It was in 1840 that Anna Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, noticed she felt a ‘sinking feeling’ around mid-afternoon. Once served with a pot of Darjeeling tea, some bread, butter and biscuits, she felt decidedly better, and the afternoon tea was born. Join us for afternoon tea in the Crystal Moon Lounge and let us transport you to a world of timeless elegance, where delectable sweet and savoury treats take centre stage beneath the warm glow of our Baccarat-crystal chandelier.

As you savour your spot of tea, alongside delicate pastries and savoury bites featuring elderflower curd, lemon drizzle, Highgrove honey and Victoria sponge, discover our new installation by Lock & Co. Hatters.

The country’s oldest milliners present a curated exhibition of hats through the ages, charting the iconic moments of the British summer social season, from Wimbledon and Henley Royal Regatta to Royal Ascot and beyond.

Displayed throughout the Crystal Moon Lounge, the installation offers a playful visual journey through Britain’s most celebrated summer traditions.
