"Diner Amical" with the ‘CONFRÉRIE DE LA CHAÎNE DES RÔTISSEURS, at the Corinthia St. George's Bay
05 February 2012
Members of the international gastronomic society ‘CONFRÉRIE DE LA CHAÎNE DES RÔTISSEURS’ came together on Friday 3rd February 2012, as part of a Dinner Amical, a friendship dinner, held at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay in St Julians.
The Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an exclusive, international gastronomic association of chefs, restaurateurs and gourmets that was founded in 1950 in Paris. The invited members to the Dinner Amical were welcomed with a pre-dinner reception, during which Piper Heidsik NV Champagne and canapés were served. This was followed by a luxurious dinner in the stunning Grill3301 Restaurant. Maître Hôtelier Stuart Chappell, General Manager of the Corinthia Hotel St. George`s Bay hosted this event.
An exquisite menu was prepared by executive Chef Kevin Arpa and his brigade to guarantee an unforgettable culinary experience for the guests. The menu included specialities such as delicate scallops with salmon, lobster and crab, a Kobe beef carpaccio, as well as slow-roasted veal, and came to a close with a sumptuous white chocolate mousse and chocolate tart. Chef Kevin Arpa is the head chef of the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay and has also won numerous medals in different national and international competitions.
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is based on the traditions and practices of the old French royal guild of goose roasters, whose authority gradually expanded to the roasting of all poultry, meat and game. It is dedicated to fine cuisine and promoting and developing the gastronomic values while at the same time widening its focus to include table art.
Since its rebirth, the society has grown dramatically, spreading its influence and presence worldwide. Today, the Chaîne brings together professional and non-professional members from around the world, who share in the "spirit" of the Society and who appreciate and enjoy wine and fine dining. While a confrérie is a "brotherhood," women have always been welcome and they take an active role in the Society. Within the Chaîne there is also the "L'Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs" for those members who have a special knowledge of, or interest in, wine and spirits.
This was the first of a series of dinners to be organised by the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs throughout the year.
