Corinthia and Egyptair in Joint Sharm El Sheikh Promotion

20 April 2010

At a joint workshop held recently at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay, St Julians for local travel agents and the press, Corinthia Group subsidiary CHI Hotels & Resorts (CHI) and Egyptair announced a joint initiative to launch and establish Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt as a new and exciting holiday destination for the Maltese public. Egyptair’s Malta manager Tony Vella gave details of the revamped services available to their passengers. Moreover, travellers can now fly directly to Cairo on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, affording them the possibility of two, three, five or seven night stays.

This makes a combined Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh holiday much more accessible to those who do not wish to spend their entire stay in either of the two locations. Flight timings are convenient, with passengers leaving in early afternoon and arriving in Sharm El Sheikh on the same day through a fast Cairo connection from the recently launched terminal 3.

The Travel agents and journalists were treated to a taste of Egyptian food and entertainment, including an exotic belly dancer. Egyptair and CHI are jointly offering a value for money holiday package at the CHI operated Tiran Island Hotel Sharm El Sheikh, which is Egypt’s top tourist destination. The destination offers all year round sunshine, exceptional nightlife, as well as unique underwater experiences for divers and snorkelers.

CHI regional director of sales Nicky Borg detailed the many services and amenities available at the four star 335 room Tiran Island Hotel. The hotel is the first of three hotels that will eventually also include a five star Corinthia Hotel to form the Corinthia Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh, with close to 2000 beds. Facilities at the hotel include a lagoon swimming pool with sunken bar, extensive leisure facilities for all the family, a sandy beach and dive centre, various restaurants and bars. Bedrooms are spacious and well furnished, with balcony and views of the pool, the sea or the desert mountains. An animation programme is available throughout the season. The hotel is conveniently located just 10 minutes away from the Airport and 15 minutes away from popular Nama Bay.

The Tiran Island Hotel makes for an exhilarating holiday or a relaxed laid back break for all the family. The most popular dive sites are just minutes away from the hotel, while the exotic marine life can also be enjoyed through a trip on a glass bottomed boat. A day’s visit to St. Catherine’s Monastery within the Sinai Mountains is extremely rewarding, while a ride on a camel, quad bike, or jeep safari, followed by a traditional dinner under a Bedouin tent makes for a memorable experience. Concluding the event, Aaron Stivala, commercial director of MISR Co ltd, Egyptair’s Malta agents, explained how local travel agents and passengers can benefit from the extremely competitive fares offered by the airline for its various destinations that besides Egypt, include Africa, the Far East and Australia. For details on offers by Egyptair and CHI Hotels & Resorts one may contact Egyptair office at Malta International Airport or any local travel agent.
